Oh Baby!

Here's our sweet boy! Griffin Merritt Stephens, born on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. He weighed in at 8 lbs, 13 oz. Since he was born by scheduled c-section at 39 weeks, 2 days...we think he would have probably weighed more than his big sister (she was 9 lbs, 3 oz) if he had been born at 40 weeks!
Here's the BIG SISTER! :o)

We have a sentimental tradition of taking pictures of our babies in the hospital with a personalized burp cloth. It's also fun to let the doctors and nurses know that his name is not "Baby Stephens".

Here's Griffin during his first ride in the car.

This picture is for Chris...as for me, I'm an SEC fan! :o)

Griffin had a rough first month with constant doctor visits related to Jaundice. We were discharged from the hospital on Saturday, April 17th..and by Sunday, April 18th we were back in the hospital under the "Bili Lights" for photo therapy. That was just an overnight stay, but they sent us home with a "Bili Blanket" that we had to use for awhile. It was a big pain...imagine your child being hooked up to this contraption that has to be plugged in...and sounds like one of those old overhead projectors. But seriously, we were grateful that our pediatricians were closely monitoring him and taking such good care of him. We also had some issues with weight gain at first, and had a weekend stay at the hospital for that as well. Thankfully, all was well with my milk supply, and he was back at his birth weight at 3 weeks. At that point, everything was moving in the right direction. Whew!

This is what the Bili Blanket looks like when the lights are off. We called Griffin our little "glow worm"!

Yeah! Baby pictures!!! What a start at life! I'm so glad he is growing and doing well now! It was a joy to meet your little guy when he was born.

Love the glow worm nickname!
